In response to a critical water crisis in the Badna community, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. IDWF rehabilitated and restored a non-functional community borehole, providing clean and safe water access to over 5,000 community members. This project remains one of IDWF’s most impactful community development interventions since inception.
IDWF held a virtual awareness webinar to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, reaching over 1,000 women with life-saving information on early detection, preventive measures, and the importance of regular breast examinations. The campaign encouraged women to share the message with their networks and loved ones.
IDWF partnered with digital rights expert Mr. Okoro Solomon and the Mental Health with Ditty Foundation to deliver a digital accountability workshop at City Royal Secondary School, Nyanya, Abuja. The workshop reached over 100 students and teachers with practical education on digital safety, online rights, gender-based digital violence prevention, and mental health in the digital space
To commemorate World Health Day, IDWF hosted a webinar featuring medical doctors who spoke on the realities of Nigeria’s health system and educated over 1,000 participants on malaria prevention, general health safety, and the importance of proactive healthcare.
IDWF identified and sponsored three out-of-school girls, paying their school fees and returning them to the classroom. This initiative reflects IDWF’s commitment to breaking the cycle of educational exclusion for the girl child in Nigeria.
On June 6, 2026, IDWF reached over 100 women and adolescent girls in the Bama and Gwosa IDP Camp with menstrual hygiene kits, health education sessions, and a focus group discussion. The outreach also served as a needs assessment to gather community data for designing a long-term, sustainable period poverty elimination programme.
Justice for Her is IDWF’s flagship gender-based violence response programme, providing free legal representation and psychosocial support to survivors of GBV and sexual violence, particularly women and girls with disabilities who cannot afford legal counsel. The initiative works with pro bono legal professionals and mental health partners to ensure every survivor gets justice and a clear pathway to recovery and reintegration into society.
The Girls Rise Initiative is IDWF’s flagship education programme dedicated to returning out-of-school girls back to the classroom and keeping them there. Through scholarship support, advocacy, and community engagement, IDWF identifies girls who have dropped out of school due to poverty, family circumstances, or social barriers, and provides them with the resources and encouragement they need to reclaim their education and their future. Since inception, IDWF has successfully sponsored three girls back to school under this initiative.
The Safe Space Initiative is IDWF’s flagship mentorship and empowerment programme for young women and adolescent girls, including those with disabilities. It provides a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where girls can access career guidance, life skills development, emotional support, and community connection. IDWF is currently expanding the Safe Space into a structured 8-week Fellowship and Mentorship Programme to deepen its impact and reach more young women across Nigeria.
The Her Life Initiative is IDWF’s flagship health programme committed to improving access to quality, inclusive, and dignified healthcare for women and girls across Nigeria. The initiative addresses critical health challenges including maternal and child health, menstrual hygiene, mental health, HIV, WASH, reproductive tract infections, and sexual and reproductive health rights. Through awareness campaigns, community outreach, webinars, and advocacy, IDWF works to end preventable deaths and ensure that every woman and girl can access the healthcare she deserves.
The Water for Life Initiative is IDWF’s flagship community development programme addressing the critical challenge of water access in underserved and rural communities across Nigeria. Through community entry, needs assessment, and infrastructure rehabilitation, IDWF works to restore and provide sustainable clean water access to communities that have been left behind. The Badna Community Water Project in Nasarawa State stands as the pioneer intervention under this initiative, having restored clean water access to over 5,000 community members.
When adolescents girls are educated and cared for, they grow into empowered women (adults) who contribute to breaking cycles of poverty, violence, and inequality.
A girl child who learns today becomes a leader who transforms tomorrow.
